Call it dorky, but I am SO excited about the New York City Vegetarian Food Festival that is happening in less than 3 weeks! I have heard and read so much about all of its awesomeness, and I’m stoked to actually be a part of it this year! Plus, attending a veggie food fest is on my list of things to accomplish before turning 30. Vegan food and checking something off my list? SCORE!
The founders of the event, Sarah Gross & Nira Paliwoda, are committed to creating a fun, yet educational event that may foster some new ways of thinking. On the NYC VegFest blog, they wrote: “If just one person per year decides to make an animal-friendly, earth-friendly, health-friendly change in their life then we have furthered our goal of creating an event that isn’t just fun for the moment but actually makes a difference.” The festival will be filled to the brim with veg-friendly vendors, food samples, merchandise, and guest speakers. I have been checking the NYC VegFest site daily for the schedule of events….like the true nerd that I am, I can’t wait to plan out my two days there!
I took the advice of some friends from the FB page Power to the Veg! (please check them out, they are all awesome veggie people!!!) and bought the 2-day VIP tickets. According to some people that have gone in the past, it’s worth it to spring for the extra day because it will be hard to really take it all in with just one. Plus, you can take your time and make it to all of the speakers that you want to see AND try all of the delicious foods! You also get to skip the line (which has been known to be an almost 2 hour wait) AND your VIP ticket gets you raffle tickets! One of the lovely ladies in the group also posted a link to a fantastic Amazon Local deal for discounted tickets and I was able to get a $50 VIP weekend pass for only $24! If you click HERE, you might have a shot of getting the same awesome discount. But hurry, there is a limited amount and there have already been over 1,400 sold!
Being the only vegan in my circle of local friends can be a bit isolating at times, so I am really looking forward to meeting and socializing with some awesome, likeminded veggie people in NYC! I will post again after I attend and recap everything that I see and taste!
So…will I see you there?
